I have changed... Indeed!

There was a time that I, Sarah-Leigh Elago better known as Madam Chair thought every battle was my own to fight. I would fight against injustice. Help fight battles that weren't mine to begin with, stand up for people that were voiceless until I learnt that the creature called human being is the worst creature that existed. Human beings will turn you into a witch if you don't know how to guard your heart with all diligence.

This creature is not loyal. This mammal if not careful can consume you and leave you bitter. This creature called human being taught me to harden my heart. It taught me to grow a pair and whilst I'm at it, thicken my skin like that of a crocodile and sharpen my brain capacity like that of an elephant. Now more then ever, I'm super emotionally and politically intelligent.

The human creature if not careful will devour you. Over 15 years experience in leadership and politics taught me to be meticulous in battle. I've learned to pick my battles WISELY and DELIBERATELY. There are battles I don't give any attention to, battles I ignore, like I can't hear nor see it, a complete mirage. Then, there are battles I will fight you head-on but I fight you on MY TERMS and TERRITORY. Any foreign territory, I walk away. Because, I refuse to be enticed unnecessarily. Also, there are battles I will pretend to fight just to exhaust the enemy. You'd be there gaaning aan, Mna, I'll be there laughing at you. Shem!

Also, I've learned to let people drown. When I think at how I was able to sacrifice myself for people, I don't know whether to call myself naive or stupid or both. Jirrrrre, I've been a sacrificial lamb for many but, when I needed that same level of commitment, D O L O L O!

Oya, NOW! I can deliberately and comfortably watch you drown. Not because I'm evil, but for my own good. Rescuing people taught me one thing, some people will pretend to be drowning JUST TO DROWN YOU! Some people will pretend to be in a crises JUST TO CRISES YOU! Some will pretend to be in trouble JUST TO TROUBLE YOU. I've learned that I am NOT  everyone's saviour! I can't save everyone. I can't and I will not!

I am that one person that went from being too opinionated, to being selectively outspoken. Now, I ONLY speak when spoken to. I speak when it is necessary. I stopped being available and overly available, I stopped being nice, I stopped being the good comrade. Now, whether you say hi or not, akhina ndaba! Whether you like me or not, that's your problem. Now, I even say NO without blinking and or explaining myself.  The life jacket that I have  been to many is now a closed chapter. My good heart now has limits too.

There's nothing as dangerous as a focused person. Ever since 2019 started, I've been consistently hearing the same thing: "Madam Chair, you've changed. You really have changed."

Different people all saying the same thing. The person called Madam Chair is someone else. I don't have time for unnecessary things. I call those that call me, I prioritize those that prioritize me, I sacrifice for those that sacrifice for me, I go the extra mile for those that go the extra mile for me. I cry with those that cry with me. My contact list went from 710 to 150. I'm NOT keeping numbers in my phone book that I don't use and who don't use my phone. So, when you tell me I have changed, IT IS BECAUSE I HAVE CHANGED. This change is DELIBERATE and specifically crafted in such a way that I don't go back to the old Sarah-Leigh!

The beauty in all this is that now that I've removed so many people from my personal, political and professional life, things are going for me. Things are genuinely moving for me.

So, yeah! I've changed. I was a caterpillar for so long that I forgot to metamorphose into the butterfly that I've always meant to be. Aaah! Life has never ever been this sweet!

I now have a πŸ‘πŸ½PhD in walking away from peopleπŸ‘πŸ½ and in superiorly ignoring peopleπŸ‘πŸ½. πŸ‘πŸ½Omo, I can ignore people now. Sha!πŸ‘πŸ½

If I'm not important to you, trust me, you surely aren't important to me.

Ewe... I've changed! #DropsMic_and_🚢🏽🚢🏽🚢🏽

I want to understand...

I want to understand why church leaders thinks it's okay to blame the cheating ways and lusts of men on women and their dress code. Notwithstanding that some women do dress inappropriately to church but isn't it the responsibility of the man to control his thoughts? Church has been the BIGGEST advocate for patriarchy. I love God so much, I love my place of fellowship, but when I watch videos of female preachers preaching crap from the pulpit, I ask myself, which kind of God are they preaching to their congregations? And society expects women to be accepted as equals when female preachers themselves blame women for everything? Who addresses the slim fit suits and super tight pants men are wearing these days? You can LITERALLY see the ENTIRE crotch. Jeans, suits, pants are so tight, you can see where the penis is. Why isn't anyone addressing that? So, it's ONLY women that can tempt men oro whati? Soon, churches are going to be empty. Pastors will find th...

Rise, Woman Rise!

Woman, Rise! Rise above the skies and beyond,  Just Rise!  Rise above the hill tops and beyond,  Be Risen!  Rise above the criticism, patriarchy and chauvinism.  Woman, Rise!  Rise above the trials and Tribulations!  Just Rise!  Rise and BE!  Be Loud,  Be Ambitious,  Be Opinionated,  Be Confident,  Be Anything you want to be.  Be anything you want to be.   Rise, woman Rise!  Rise above the skies and beyond.   As women, we have been told how to behave, when to behave, where to behave... We are told how to dress, what decent dressing is by people who know nothing about being a woman. Women are told where to speak, how to speak and when to speak. Who made men bosses over women? Patriarchy is normalized because many women are silent advocates. Society has normalized patriarchy and the church is its biggest sponsor. Rise, Woman Rise! is dedicated to every rebel, every non-conformist, every robust and radical...

Dear Younger Leigh - It's unfortunate but it is true...

Dear Younger Leigh,  I wish I was there to navigate politics and leadership with you.  I truly wish I was there with you, to help you through the propaganda, gossip,  character assassination,  backstabbing, pain, heartache, plots and traps.  I wish I was there to hold your hands and reassure you that it will only get worse.  There is no better in politics or leadership.  It's unfortunate, but it is the truth.  They will target you,  Plot against you, Use you as a scapegoat, Dig massive graves for you, Isolate you, Single you out, Belittle you,  Undermine you, It's unfortunate, but it is the truth. I wish I was there to hold your hands and direct your paths. I truly wish I was there with you, to better prepare you for battle, war, arguments, attacks and attempts at silencing your voice. I wish I was there to teach you how to be meticulous in battle and formidable in spirit. Because, they will love you in the morning, like you by noon and ...
