Dear Younger Sarah-Leigh Elago,
Sometimes, I am slightly filled with regret, however, I believe without an ounce of doubt that I am living out the perfect will of God... Listen, forget about success, money, power, influence and reputation. At times, they aren't worth it. I swear! The aforementioned do NOT guarantee pure HAPPINESS. What ought to be most important is YOUR happiness. You know ne, because of my beliefs, I am not able to bring myself to give birth out of wedlock (If I do that, then it's a miracle ππππππππ½ππ½π), I'm not able to do a lot of things. Sometimes, I wish I was as "reckless" as other people. I wish I had given birth at 19, married the crazy headed Muslim at 23, stayed in Ghana and probably converted to Islam or had given the loving Mauritian Hindu a better chance. But, my inbuilt fear of the Lord wouldn't let me. I was raised in a specific way by an extremely strict mother, my Dada was laid back and cool. See eh, certain things were instilled in me at a very early age. Things that have become a part of me so much, I can't begin to deviate from them. It's part of who I am, I believe!
When I was your age, Meme used to tell me the story of my birth. That I startled doctors, that my birth was extraordinary, how I didn't cried until two/three hours later, even when the doctors hit my bum a little bit, how I was born with/ in two sacks (I forgot the medical term), in Afrikaans, it's called Helm. However, I was born with/in two Helms. I remember how I would know things about people and not understand why and how I could know things, how I would feel something before it happens, especially death in the family, I will see it coming, what was most scary is thinking that it was my fault when someone died because I would feel or see it coming, until I had THAT dream, how accurate my dream can be, how I would speak a word over someone and it would come to pass, I remember that day, the day XYZ made me cry, and I uttered something against them, next thing I know, it wasn't well with that person, I had to fast and pray to reverse my spoken words, that's when I realized that my tongue IS something else. You know, I can go on and on about all this but let me park this part here ka ncinci.
Younger Leigh, I need you to understand that it is okay to be inlove with someone of a different belief. Yes! It can work! When you wanna make it work. Forget about societal pressure. Ignore family members who never added a dime to raise you. Walk away from friends who can't understand your spiritual revelations, who can't fathom that you are different and that's it's okay to be different and that it's okay to be weird. People that can't grasp your vision, people who frustrate your vision, people who are dream catches and dream killers. Be wary of people/friends and family members who/that have nothing good to recommend about you, people who can't openly celebrate you and your achievements because they've openly spoken against you. Watch out for mischief makers, flesh cutters, Apostle Paul puts it nicely in his letter to the Phillipians in Chapter 3, he says; "Beware of dogs, mischief makers, flesh cutters, MARK THEM".
Younger Sarah, it is imperative that you hear me and hear me well, LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST. Don't worry too much about tomorrow, I've learned that tomorrow has ways of sorting itself out. I know, the planner in (us) wouldn't dare it, but be more spontaneous nyana. Don't be too serious all the time, laugh a little bit more, take a few more calculated risks, forgive and forget. Grudges aren't worth it. Refuse to keep and know people's secrets, they are too hard of a burden to carry, they weigh you down, secrets whether yours or others WILL SINK YOU. The little you know about people THE BETTER! People will always talk. A L W A Y S! Don't stress it. Be wary of a "friend" that has never corrected you, those guys that always agree with you! Jonga, such relationships are toxic, they will lead you to destruction.
Ndeyapo, no amount of money can influence or manipulate the blessings of God. What is meant for you shall find and reach you. The enemy can ONLY delay you but they can't deny you. Their name isn't God!
It kinda get to me at times when I see people my age with their children. At times, I wonder what if I had given birth to Le twins far earlier? Don't under prioritize your happiness. Ne?
Be it as it may, I believe God has reasons for creating you the way you are. Perfectly imperfect. You are to stay put and bloom right where you are. Live more. Smile so much more. Laugh hard. Love super hard. Embrace your shortcomings, and, dance a whole lot more.
Ooooh, wait! Enjoy love, when it finds you, it's uncut, raw and unplanned. And Yes! Love is REAL!
You'll probably won't get all this, but ja! It's a paradox. Akere?
